Although not 100% organic oriented, the food that you will taste is mainly either from our own production or from local organic producers. Among these you will find :

  • Vegetables from our own organic garden.
  • The meats from nearby organic grown cattle ( even boar meat provided by the hunters - although not stricly cattle )
  • Mushrooms if the season is right ( or if there is some left from last year ).
  • Goat's cheese from "Les Chamoises" in Lairière.
  • Great Corbières & Languedoc wines like those from Embres et Castelmaure that you also can buy here at the cave price

Idealy located at the crossroads of european main routes ... No ! this is the talk of people who want to build a factory or an airport ... But here you won't find any factory. You will even sometimes find dificult to call our roads just roads, but this implies that you will meet few vehicules ! The village of Lairière with its 40 inhabitants belongs to the Canton of Mouthoumet which is with its 1300 inh / 300 km² one of the less densely populated of France. This canton forms what is called the "Corbières vertes" or "hautes Corbières" Almost no more farms on this territory which is gained by the forest, but a rich flora and wild life to discover.

Lairère et les Jourdets vus du sommet du Milobre

Few roads ( a biker's paradise ) and many tracks ( a hiker and horse rider's paradise ). Les Jourdets are located in a small valley in a forest at the foot of the Milobre de Bouisse ( 878 m / high and a nice 4 hours round trip from the house ).

Just a few minutes from the house the Orbieu river cut the limestone mountain in the Gorges making lovely pools for swiming. A few minutes also to reach the foot of Termes Castle. Here in the Gorges of Terminet you can practice canyoning or hike to the Caune Pont cliffs equiped for climbing. If you're not afraid of going underground, you can explore one of the numerous caves of the nearby plateau de Lacamp.

The Jourdets are a top mark for local mushroom collectors. If you like this activity, we'll be happy to show you the good places.

Of course you can allways have a drive to usual "cathar attractions" ( Peyrepertuse ... etc ), to the nearby village of Lagrasse with its monastery, to the citadel of Carcassonne or the monastery of Fontfroide or even spend the day at the sea side, but nothing will match the calm and nature that you will find here ...

The Corbières and notably around Lairière are a paradise for the fanatics of orchid flowers whom a great number of species are represented in the nearby meadows from april to june.
A hike along the local trails during this season is an experience ...
